Objectives of the Instructional Program

The policy of the St. Louis Board of Education regarding the objectives of the adult instructional program shall include but not be limited to the offering of life-long learning experiences which:

1. Assist persons in acquiring competencies in the fundamental academic skills, including qualifying for the General Educational Development Certificate.

2. Help individuals to qualify for employment or further job related training.

3. Help persons in the understanding and development of skills for successful personal and family learning.

4. Afford community members an opportunity to participate in the education and community development decision-making process.

5. Provide opportunities for enrichment activities, and productive use of leisure time.

Such experiences shall be made in accordance with relevant guidelines that emanate from the various division sources of financing.

Objectives of the Instructional Program

According to Board Policy 6212, it will be the primary responsibility of division administrators to implement programs that reflect the instructional objectives identified in the aforementioned policy.
