ST. LOUIS BOARD OF EDUCATION POLICY INSTRUCTION ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE AND SECONDARY Curriculum Extensions Vocational–Technical Education -- Work Experience Programs for Students with Disabilities It shall be the policy of the Board of Education to approve the participation of students with disabilities in school-directed work experience programs that conform to the State Requirements. References Legal: P.L. 105-17 and Regulations Policy adopted: June 26, 1990 Revised: December 07, 1999 R6176.2 INSTRUCTION ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE AND SECONDARY Curriculum Extensions Vocational–Technical Education -- Work Experience Programs for Students with Disabilities Pursuant to Board of Education Policy P6176.2, a student with a disability may participate in work experience programs if specified in a student's individual education program (IEP). Requirements for student participation in a Cooperative School Work Program are as follows. The district must enter into and sign an agreement with an appropriate entity The student must have a current IEP which includes goals and objectives relating to vocational rehabilitation. The district shall provide duly certified special education teachers to serve as vocational adjustment coordinators (VACs) to monitor and coordinate the students off-campus work experiences with related instruction in the schools.
