ST. LOUIS BOARD OF EDUCATION POLICY It shall be the policy of the St. Louis Board of Education in accordance with existing state and federal laws, to provide homebound instruction to any student between the ages of 5-21 who, because of the nature and extent of their disabilit(y)ies, is unable to attend school safely or adequately. Homebound instruction shall be provided in accordance with an IEP established by the student’s IEP team for the period of confinement to home or hospital as verified by an attending physician or, in the case of a severely behaviorally disordered student, by a licensed clinical psychologist or psychiatrist. Such IEP is subject to review and revision at least annually. Homebound instruction may be provided to students suspected of having a disability who are unable to attend school safely.

LOUIS BOARD OF EDUCATION REGULATION INSTRUCTION ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE AND SECONDARY Curriculum Extensions Homebound Instruction Pursuant to Board of Education Policy P6173 the St. Louis Public School District shall provide instruction to homebound students. This type of placement is based on the individual student’s needs which may be defined in the student’s IEP. The specific educational placement shall be determined annually. If homebound instruction is required beyond the length of time approved in the original application, a request for an extension must be submitted to the state coordinator of special education, State Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Homebound instruction may be provided to students suspected of having a disability who are unable to attend school safely.
