The Board of Education recognizes its responsibility to implement adequate and effective safety instruction and safety procedures in all laboratory classes.

Safety

It is the responsibility of the division of teaching and learning support to address the issue of safety in laboratory class instruction. Curriculum facilitators will include safety objectives in appropriate curriculum guides and will supervise the implementation of safety instruction.

The building administrative staff shall establish a procedure to implement and monitor the following safety regulations.

Personal protective equipment will be worn by teachers and students when appropriate and necessary.

Written rules and regulations will be posted in each laboratory class.

Students will be instructed on safe and orderly work habits, and on the safe operation of equipment.

Safety hazards in each laboratory class will be identified and corrected.
