Student Production of Services and Materials

The Board of Education recognizes the value of production and service work in vocational education. Educational experiences that simulate industrial production and services are approved as long as the completion of the production or service work is consistent with the following criteria:

1. That the product or service that results from student work is directly related to the curriculum.

2. That the assignment of production or service projects be kept to the minimum.

Instructional Arrangements
Student Production of Services and Materials

Assignment of production work within the school shall be according to a written plan directed by the principal and approved by the director of career and vocational education. A copy of the principals plan shall be submitted to the office of financial-budgetary support services.

All projects for which materials are furnished by the individual can be accepted only upon the approval of the principal. No order shall be accepted for resale jobs or for profit-making.

Each project must have a definite and orderly plan of procedure from acceptance in the school to its completion, including the collection of payment and the accounting procedure.

Orders originating outside the school system for the production of products or for services may be accepted by the principal of the school under a procedure detailed by the principal and approved by the director of vocational education. Orders are taken with the understanding that they are for educational projects and that all claims for losses due to accidental mishaps, fire, or theft are waived.

Orders for minor repairs and services not exceeding $50.00 may be undertaken upon the order of the principal.

All requests for projects and services must originate in the office of the business office manager.

Unclaimed items from such production projects left for more than ninety (90) days shall be disposed of by direction of the principal through the regular procedure or by the division of purchasing.

Disposition of all inventory items that exceed requirements shall be authorized by the principal, subject to approval by the director of vocational education.
