ST. LOUIS BOARD OF EDUCATION POLICY Instructional Resources for Teachers -- Duplication of Copyrighted Audiovisual Materials The illegal duplication of copyrighted audio-visual materials jeopardizes the availability of economical instructional resources for the educational community. The Board of Education's instructional and support staff is to adhere to the provisions of the copyright laws concerning the duplication of audiovisual materials for educational purposes.

LOUIS BOARD OF EDUCATION REGULATION Instructional Resources for Teachers--Duplication of Copyrighted Audiovisual Materials 1. The districts employees shall adhere to the provisions 17 U.S.C. 102 et. seq. concerning the duplication of copyrighted audiovisual materials. 2. The principal of each school or the chief administrative officer of each support unit shall establish procedures for the proper and legal duplication and/or copying of copyrighted audiovisual materials, off-the-air commercial instructional television and radio programs. 3. Illegal duplication or copying of copyrighted audiovisual materials may not be made or used on district-owned equipment. 4. The legal protection of the district shall not be extended to employees who violate copyright laws. 5. Failure to strictly adhere to the regulations as stated shall be grounds for disciplinary action against an employee, including dismissal. References Legal: 17 U.S.C. 102 et. seq.
