Equipment, Books and Materials -- Musical Instruments

The Board of Education recognizes that the successful implementation and maintenance of the district's K-12 music curriculum depends on the availability of sufficient and suitable musical instruments.

Therefore, the board will equip, without cost to students, these programs: choral music, K-12; marching bands, grades 9-12; jazz bands, grades 9-12; concert bands, grades 4-12; orchestras (strings), grades 3-12; and the Kodaly-Orff general music program, K-8.

The board further recognizes its responsibility to keep musical instruments and equipment in good repair and to replace the stock, as needed, to maintain the program.

Equipment, Books and Materials -- Musical Instruments

Within the overall policies of the Board of Education, the music facilitators of the division of teaching/learning support shall:

1. Determine standard instrumentation for the K-12 music programs;
2. Approve or create specifications for musical instruments and equipment;
3. Approve and generate orders for musical instruments and equipment.

Additionally, the musical instrument repair shop will be staffed by qualified technicians who will be responsible for the maintenance of all musical instruments.
