Curriculum Design -- Early Childhood Education

The Saint Louis Board of Education shares the belief that all children, including those with special needs, should enter school ready to learn. To ensure that this belief is a reality, school personnel will work collaboratively with families, community organizations, and public and private child-care providers. Toward that purpose, the district is committed to providing optimal early childhood educational services in a secure and developmentally appropriate environment through the coordination of programs and support services. The goal is to promote the total growth and well being of young children, ages birth through seven (7), by means of efficient service delivery in accordance with applicable state and federal standards. It is realized that each child is a unique individual whose education begins at birth. We believe that, in partnership with parents and the childcare community, each child's education must be developmentally appropriate, within a child-centered environment, fostering self-esteem and life-long educational success.
