Emergencies -- Bomb Threats

In the event of a bomb threat the superintendent delegates authority to the building administrator in consultation with the associate superintendent for site support/instructional and leadership to determine the safest course of action, i.e., to use his/her judgment in deciding whether or not to evacuate the building. The building administrator's decision should depend greatly on the nature of events or circumstances occurring before the threatening call, the estimated age and other characteristics of the caller, and the potential danger of an explosion occurring while corridors are crowded during evacuation of the building.

The building administrator shall put into effect prior plans worked out for alerting staff and handling a bomb threat. The police, the security office, and the superintendent's office shall be notified immediately.
