R5150.2 ST. LOUIS BOARD OF EDUCATION REGULATION STUDENTS ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE AND SECONDARY Reporting Acts of Violence Reporting - Involvement with Board Employees School administrators shall report to teachers and other school district employees who have a need to know acts of school violence. A "need to know" is defined to mean school personnel who are directly responsible for the student's education or who otherwise interact with the student on a professional basis while acting within the scope of their assigned duties. "Act of violence" or "violent behavior" means the exertion of physical force by a student with the intent to do serious physical injury to another person while on school property, including a school bus in service on behalf of the district, or while involved in school activities. Upon a report from a law enforcement official regarding petitions filed against students as described in regulation 5150.1, the superintendent or designee shall report such information to teachers and other board employees with a need to know while acting in the scope of their assigned duties. Any portion of a student's individualized education program that is related to demonstrated or potentially violent behavior shall be provided to any teacher and other board employees who are directly responsible for the student's education or who otherwise interact with the student on an educational basis while acting within the scope of their assigned duties. In any instance where a teacher becomes aware of an assault or finds a student in possession of a weapon or controlled substance as described in regulation R5150.1, the teacher shall immediately report such instance to the principal.
