Attendance Records -- Record Keeping - Students Leaving a School

A. Transfer

When a student changes from one St. Louis Public School to another St. Louis Public School during the same school year, the student shall be counted by the school which he/she leaves as a transfer.

This applies to students who transfer to another St. Louis Public School because of change of address and to students who enter another St. Louis Public School on a permit approved by the superintendent or assistant superintendent. This does not apply to students assigned (full-time) to a special education class.

Changes of schools made during the summer vacation shall be counted during the succeeding year as original entries.

B. Withdrawal

When, during a school year, a student leaves to attend a school other than a St. Louis public school; is assigned to a special school; enters lawful employment; leaves school finally for any other valid cause; or whose enrollment ceases on account of death; he/she shall be withdrawn from the enrollment of the St. Louis Public School.

The net number of withdrawals plus the enrollment should equal the registration on any given date.

Regulation approved: June 26, 1990

Revised: December 07, 1999
