R5111. 5
ST LOUIS BOARD OF EDUCATION REGULATION
STUDENTS
ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE AND SECONDARY
Attendance

Admission -- Admission of Students by Transfer or Grade Certificate

Within two business days of enrolling any student, including any special education student, the principal will request the records described hereunder for each category, and, for all students, will request discipline records from schools previously attended by the student within the last twelve months.

A. Elementary and Middle

1. Students who transfer or present a certificate of grade from local schools or from other school systems shall be placed in classes of the same grades and levels as indicated thereon. This requirement shall not prohibit such re-grading and reclassification of the students as may be necessary after a reasonable trial.

2. Any student who has been placed in elementary or middle school by special permit from the superintendent or the associate superintendent for site support/instructional and leadership shall be barred thereby from attending any other St. Louis Public Elementary or Middle School at any subsequent time, except by action of the superintendent or associate superintendent for site support/instructional and leadership.

B. Secondary

1. From St. Louis Public High Schools

If a student transfers to a high school after having been enrolled in another St. Louis Public High School during the same school year, the principal shall require the student to secure the appropriate form from the former school in order to verify that the student is eligible for transfer. After the student is enrolled, the principal will request the necessary records from the previous school.

2. From Other High Schools

All students transferring from other than St. Louis Public High Schools are considered as "original entries" and are handled under provisions of Regulation R5111.4.

3. Any student who has been placed in high school by special permit from the superintendent of schools or the associate superintendent for site support/instructional and leadership shall be barred thereby from attending any other St. Louis Public High School at any subsequent time except by action of the superintendent of schools or associate superintendent for site support/instructional and leadership.
