ST. LOUIS BOARD OF EDUCATION REGULATION
PERSONNEL

COMMUNITY EDUCATION CENTER PERSONNEL – GENERAL

Involuntary Leave of Absence and Reinstatement

Except for coordinators, community education center employees, like other noncertificated employees, may be placed on involuntary leave of absence only in the inverse order of their appointment to the local site program for which they have been selected. This may be done, for example, when a local community education center program or some portion thereof is discontinued for lack of funds or other programmatic reasons. This would not occur, however, when a local community education center program is moved from one site to another. Community education center coordinators, because they are full-time employees, may be placed on involuntary leaves of absence in the inverse order of their appointment to the total community education center program.

Except for coordinators, employees placed on involuntary leave of absence shall have no right to replace comparable employees with less seniority in another local community education center program. Employees placed on involuntary leave of absence must be reinstated to their previous local community education center program position in inverse order of their placement on leave and may not lose status or credit for previous periods of service. Community education center coordinators, however, may be considered for transfer into other positions in the regular school program where qualified.

Regulation approved: June 26, 1990

Revised: December 8, 1998
