COMMUNITY EDUCATION CENTER PERSONNEL - GENERAL
Selection of Employees
Applications for employment shall normally be submitted to the community education center coordinator of the local site where the vacancy exists. The coordinator shall, in close conjunction with the principal and local advisory board, consider such applications and conduct such interviews as the coordinator feels are necessary. The coordinator has the responsibility to follow federal and state laws forbidding discrimination in hiring, termination and promotion on the basis of race, sex, religion, national origin, or disability. The coordinator shall send to the executive director of community education the employment applications and other records of the person who is recommended most highly by the coordinator along with his/her recommendation for the appointment. The executive director of community education shall review such materials and, upon approval, send them to the Division of Human Resources for recommendation to the superintendent of schools for appointment, if appropriate. The Human Resource Officer has the authority to overrule the recommendation of the coordinator whenever the Human Resource Officer feels that such recommendation would be either illegal or not in the best interest of the community education program. The Human Resource Officer has the authority to request that all employment applications be sent to the Division of Human Resources for review.
Community education center coordinators and central office staff will be selected according to procedures developed jointly by community education administrative staff and staff of the Division of Human Resources of the Board of Education in compliance with the rules and regulations of the appropriate funding sources.
