ST. LOUIS BOARD OF EDUCATION REGULATION Employment Qualifications A community education center coordinator is required to have a bachelor's degree (preferably in education or an area which focuses on social concerns) or its equivalent, as determined by the Division of Human Resources. The burden of establishing an equivalency under these guidelines is on the recommending authorities. A community education center teacher must possess competency in the subject area to be taught, demonstrated by either experience, credentials, or both. Such competency must-be sufficiently in evidence to clearly warrant the classification of "teacher." Community education center aides in the community education center program are required to have competency in the skills needed for the tasks they are assigned and/or the basic abilities needed to learn the assigned tasks. Community education center student assistants temporarily employed in the community education center program must have the skills needed to perform the tasks they are assigned and/or the basic abilities needed to learn the assigned tasks. It is recognized that one of the purposes of the community education center program is to employ neighborhood persons when possible and thereby help them improve their skills and improve their further employability and/or financial condition.
