ST. LOUIS BOARD OF EDUCATION POLICY It is the intent of the board to ensure that the St. Louis Public School System's educational programs function without interruption. For this reason, the board will take actions necessary to protect the rights of students to educational programs and services. In doing so, the board may take legal action against any employee participating in a strike or work stoppage and may further void any contractual agreement between the board and the employee. In the event that there is a strike or work stoppage by employees of the St. Louis Public School System, an emergency situation shall be announced by the superintendent of schools. The following regulations shall be in force: 1. Salaries and benefits may be immediately discontinued for all employees participating in the strike/work stoppage other than those on prior approved paid leave. 2. In cases where the Board of Education retains its contract or employment agreement with the employee following a strike or work stoppage, exceptions which affect the annual salary or retirement of an employee will be dealt with on an individual basis. 3. In cases where the Board of Education retains its contract or employment agreement with the employee following a strike or work stoppage, the employee shall be obligated to work all days rescheduled as part of the adjusted school year to meet district and state standards.
