Inservice Programs - Principals' Responsibility

The principal shall study the curriculum, courses of study and problems of the instructional program with teachers, individually and in faculty meetings, in a continual effort to improve instruction and the delivery of service to students. The most recently authorized courses of study, teacher guides and any supplementary information pertaining thereto shall be made available to teachers, continuing substitutes and apprentices; advice shall be given to them on the use of these materials.

The principal shall take the initiative in consulting with staff regarding the establishment and maintenance of a practical and efficient inservice education program for teachers and other staff. The program shall include provisions for a thorough orientation of new teachers and the continuing professional growth of the entire staff.

Conferences shall be held with the appropriate associate superintendent and the appropriate executive director to determine resources available to make and keep the programs interesting, pertinent and responsive to the actual and perceived needs of staff. The principal shall coordinate the program with other projects of inservice education.
