Operations

All school buildings, administrative offices, premises, and equipment of the Board of Education shall be kept clean, repaired, and maintained in accordance with the funding provided by the Board of Education each year and consistent with applicable city and state laws or regulations. The administration is authorized to recommend hiring, within budgetary allocations, the people necessary to carry out these duties.

NON-INSTRUCTIONAL OPERATIONS

Operations

Under the direction of the superintendent of schools, the commissioner of buildings, grounds, and property management shall maintain a division to operate school buildings and administrative offices, including housekeeping, heating and cooling, ventilation, sanitation, landscaping, cleaning of outside areas, snow removal, and related duties.

This division shall be staffed with custodians, skilled mechanics, technicians, architects, stationary engineers, firemen, and grounds keepers.

The division is charged with the responsibility of keeping buildings and grounds clean, of keeping buildings adequately heated, cooled, and ventilated, and for requesting the repairs and maintenance necessary for the health and safety of students and staff.
