Tax Increment Financing Commission

In accordance with Section 99.820 RSMO, the Board of Education will appoint two persons to a commission of nine persons to be created by the City of St. Louis to consider tax increment financing projects. The president of the board will appoint one member and the superintendent of schools or designee will serve as the second member of the commission. This appointment shall be made within thirty days of the board’s receipt of written notice of a proposed redevelopment plan, redevelopment project, or designation of a redevelopment project area.

The purpose of this commission will be to approve or reject proposed redevelopment plans, redevelopment projects and the designation of redevelopment project areas for tax increment financing projects.

The member of the commission appointed by the Board of Education and the superintendent must exercise all duties enumerated in Sections 99.800 - 99.865 RSMo. including but not limited to: attending commission meetings and hearings; voting on proposed redevelopment plans, redevelopment projects, and the designation of redevelopment project areas, and amendments thereto; collecting information about the proposed redevelopment plans, redevelopment projects and designation of redevelopment project areas; reporting the commission's activities to the superintendent of schools and the Board of Education; and representing the best interest of the St. Louis Public Schools in matters that come before the commission.
