Transfer of Funds Between Categories: Amendments

An appropriation is a legal authorization granted by the Board of Education to make expenditures and to incur obligations for one fiscal year up to the total of the appropriation. A transfer of appropriations is a reallocation of funds reflecting a change in the administration's plan to reach stated goals and objectives.

1. A transfer of appropriations, from one function to another or from one object code to another, within the same fund, is limited to $50,000 for each transaction requested without the approval of the Board of Education. A transfer of location within the same fund, function, and object is not subject to the above limitation.

2. A transfer of appropriations of more than $50,000, from one function to another or from one object code to another, within the same fund, shall require approval of the board.

3. A transfer of appropriations that increases the total number of authorized positions, shall require approval of the board.

4. Any transfer of appropriations between funds shall require approval of the Board of Education.

5. All requests for transfers of appropriations shall have the approval of the superintendent of schools or his representative.

All requests for transfers or changes in personnel authorizations must be submitted on the "Request for Transfer of Appropriations" form (BPO03Rev) in accordance with current administrative procedures.
