Community Assistance to School Personnel

School Volunteers

School personnel at all levels shall actively recruit and encourage volunteer participation in school programs, and shall cooperate with the office of volunteer services in the operation of such programs.

Community Assistance to School Personnel

School Volunteers

1. Each school shall have a designated volunteer coordinator who is responsible for managing the school’s volunteer program. Each school shall report the name of the designated volunteer coordinator to the office of volunteer services. The office of volunteer services shall meet regularly with the designated volunteer coordinators and provide training to the coordinators.

2. School personnel working with the office of volunteer services staff shall design school-site volunteer programs with the following
characteristics: Needs assessment, recruitment strategy, written job descriptions, orientation and training for volunteers, evaluation plan, recognition and retention strategies, recordkeeping, and data-collection mechanisms.

3. All school volunteers shall be required to meet all requirements for volunteer service as established by the office of volunteer services acting for the superintendent of schools and the Board of Education, including but not limited to registration, provision of references, and signing in and out for each period of volunteer service.

4. Each volunteer shall be registered with the office of volunteer services.
