Filling Vacancies

The nomination and election of board members is governed by state law and regulated by the St. Louis Board of Election Commissioners as provided by the relevant provisions of Chapter 115 of the Missouri Revised Statutes.

Any member failing to attend three consecutive regular business meetings, unless excused by the board for reasons satisfactory to the board, shall be deemed to have vacated his or her seat.

In the case of unexpired terms in office due to unexcused absences, death or resignation, the secretary of the board shall inform the mayor of the City of St. Louis that a vacancy occurs on the board as soon as possible. Any vacancy shall be filled by the mayor by appointment for the remainder of the term.
